Memory Cards

Memory cards are becoming an increasingly popular media to store digital data. Today memory card 'slots' can be found in digital cameras, mobile phones, notebook computers and many more devices. Memory cards are characterized by their data storage capacity, for example, 256 mb, 512 mb, 1 gb, etc. A 1gb Memory Card can store up to 1024 mb of data.

Technology in the field of memory cards is changing rapidly and better enhancements of memory cards are coming in the market. For example, new MMC Plus Card has a much faster data transfer rate as compared to standard MMC card. This card is compatible with any device that accepts the standard MMC cards.

The mini-SD, introduced by SanDisk Corporation in 2003, has been adapted by the SD Card Association as the second form factor memory card in the Secure Digital family. Mini-SD card is specifically used in digital cameras as the Camera Card. However other memory cards, like compact flash card, are also used as Camera Cards. A lot of companies are presenting Cheap Mini-SD Cards these days.

The Micro-SD Card is the third and smallest member of the Secure Digital family. This card is specifically designed for use in mobile phones.

The USB Flash Pen Drives work as an alternative to floppy disks. They have the advantage of being more reliable and faster and with much larger storage capacity. Today the USB Flash Drives have completely replaced the aging floppy disks and are mostly used to store and transfer digital files between computers.

The MMCmobile card is a further enhancement of the Reduced Size MultiMediaCard (RS-MMC), offering much faster data transfer speed. Today, MMCmobile has the highest, up to 52 MB/sec, theoretical data transfer speed in the whole memory card industry. Many companies are manufacturing Cheap MMC Mobile cards these days.

Memory Sticks (MS) provide flexible storage for many products and offer great versatility. Nowadays Sandisk Memory Stick is one of the most popular memory sticks. The latest version of memory sticks is the ultra-small Memory Stick Micro M2 which has been designed to meet the growing storage needs of highly compact, multifunctional mobile phones. An M2 adaptor in the size of a standard Memory Stick allows users to exchange data to Memory Stick PRO compatible products.
